Despite the fact that it was 95 degrees outside last weekend, I got started on decorating my home for fall. I assessed what I had in storage and picked up a few more pumpkins on a Target run. Three times. Darn you, Target! Darn. You.
Living room:
With our tv still sitting on the mantle (we’ll get it mounted to the fireplace one of these days…) I couldn’t really decorate it so I decided to remove the candles that had been in the fireplace:
When I think of fall, words like harvest and bounty come to mind, and a mound of pumpkins spilling out of the fireplace was my way of showing that.
I also added a soft knit blanket to the sectional to up the cozy factor for fall.
A few weeks ago I added a couple of pillows to the living room that had elements of metallic gold in them, as well. They made great transition pieces and brought in just a touch of glam to the space. This pillow, paired with an existing white cable knit pillow, adds texture and is just the right mix of casual and glam.
Kitchen:
White ceramics are a weakness of mine, so I added a wicker pumpkin (another Target find from years ago) to this pedestal along with some greens. I normally have fresh flowers on the outer island but this is a welcome change.
A simple little vignette on a favorite wooden cutting board next to the sink:
Fresh flowers still have their place in my home, but now I’m enjoying displaying them in fun places like my bathroom vanity, office, side tables, and closet island.
I’ll be back in a few days to pick up where I left off! I can’t wait to show you what I did in a couple more spots in the kitchen, a quick little vignette in the office/schoolroom, the entry, as well as a pop of color on the front porch!
I love the idea of the white pumpkins in the fireplace. What a statement idea!
Thank you, Jan! I think the idea is a keeper for sure! I’ll probably do the same thing next fall!
